If you can't make it out to the actual wedding weekend, or if you did make it out to the actual wedding but somehow aren't totally sick of us, we are throwing a little shindig for the locals in Portland post-wedding at Brenda and Mike's house. Also, please note it will be kid-friendly, so bring the whole family along. We will be serving dinner and dancing into the night, and dress will be casual.
Now, don't everyone go runnin' off so fast!
We will be staying until Monday morning and enjoying the day in the area on Sunday. We encourage you to do the same if you can! We will be relaxing on the lawn at Wades Point, taking walks along their private nature trails, and enjoying the kayaks on the bay, all the while nursing our hangovers with hair of the dog and leftover desserts. Then in the early evening, we will most likely be exploring the town of St. Michaels. We will keep this area updated as we plan more.
NEW PIRATEY UPDATE!!!!
Since it seems like we might have a decent sized group, we are planning a boat ride for the Sunday explorers. We have talked to a local boat company, Patriot Cruises, and they have added on an Island Music Cocktail Cruise that Sunday from 5:30 - 7:00 PM. We can sail around the Chesapeake past historical waterfront mansions to the tunes of Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet, all while enjoying a cocktail. In keeping with our obsession with Vince Vaughn, Cap'n John has even promised a cruise past the filming locations for Wedding Crashers. Tickets are $29.50 per person and include tax and your first drink - you can buy tickets online by clicking here. If you would prefer to landlub it that is totally fine as well. We will be heading to dinner at the Crab Claw afterwards, which is a 2 minute walk from the boat, and WAY cuter than it looks on their website. Dinner will be on the waterfront patio most likely, so bring a sweater if you get cold easily, and we have already given them a heads up that we will be doing lots of separate checks.
The ceremony begins at 4 PM on the lawn of the Wades Point Inn. Dress is cocktail style, and if you feel so inclined, rock any vintage and/or nautical gear you can find. We will be having an unplugged ceremony, which means that we would love for you to be present in the moment, and trust that our amazing photographers will be capturing every detail. Feel free to break out your cameras at the reception (and obviously we will be using #vonfancypants). Fun fact, Brian just asked me if you have to register for a hashtag, lol. UPDATE: We will also be using the free Wedpics app, which allows you to easily share photos via the app (you can also share using the #vonfancypants, but this app consolidates all the photos in one spot). You can either download the App (just search Wedpics) or go to their website. Wedding ID is vonfancypants (of course), and from there you can register and upload photos.
After the ceremony, we will frolic on the waterfront, enjoying appetizers and aperitifs, followed by dining and dancing under the tent. At 10 PM, the party continues to the bonfire pit for some s'mores and s'more celebrating under the stars and straight on until morning. This will be our iPod's time to shine, so be sure to send in your song requests when you RSVP. That reminds me, have you RSVP'd yet? Please RSVP.
All guests are invited to a Welcome Crab Feast on the Wades Point Inn property. Fresh Maryland crabs, BBQ ribs, and all the fixin's will be served on the tables, along with an ice cream social to round out the night. Dress casual, in something you don't mind getting splashed with butter. Please let us know if you will or will not attend the Welcome Crab Feast on our RSVP page, or y'ain't gettin' crabs in Maryland. We've heard from the locals that traffic from Baltimore to St. Michaels starts to get nuts around 3PM on Fridays in the summer, so if you plan to make it here, we advise heading towards St. Michaels Friday morning and spending some time watching the antique boats in all their awesomeness.
